Pilates can be beneficial for virtually all ages, fitness levels and body conditions. Pilates is popular with dancers, gymnasts, athletes and others in their physical prime but it is equally suitable for almost any age.
Indeed, one of the beauties of Pilates is that we tailor it to suit each personage and physical condition. Many of our clients are middle-aged or elderly. Indeed, more than a few start doing Pilates specifically because they have reached 'a certain age', realized that they no longer take any exercise and suddenly thought, 'My goodness, I have to start to do something, or else I'll fall apart'.
Older clients still might have to ask medical advice before taking up Pilates and to start more slowly. Many people, however, do Pilates into their eighties and nineties. A properly tailored Pilate's program is one of the best-known ways to ward off the infirmities of old age.
Their true age, in the end, of course, is as much a function of how they feel as of the date on their birth certificate. As Joseph Pilates himself put it: If, at the age of 30, you are stiff and out of shape, you are old. If, at 60 you are supple and strong, then you are young.'
There's no age limit in the practice of the Pilates method, as many of the very first pupils of Joseph Pilates method, as many of the very first pupils of Joseph Pilates show. Indeed, despite being 70 and 80, they are fit and still working - among these Lolita San Miguel, founder of the Puerto Rican Ballet Concierto, who was certified officially by Joseph Pilates. The Pilates method works against the natural "stiffing" we all suffer from when getting older. Exercises improve flexibility, stretching and toning up muscles.
With 100 trillion cells in our bodies dividing and changing a million cells a second to maintain each DNA, the body can change with lifestyle! DNA does not control your body or predestine to being overweight, ill, sick, weak or anything else, but the majority of health and destiny lies within your own power. Inactivity and lousy nutrition is a down spiral of DNA! Here’s something rad, if DNA were pulled from your body like yarn from a sweater, its length would equal something like 6 times from the sun to Pluto and back…Yikes! That sound like many lifetimes and paradoxes in our DNA! Nonetheless, if the body is used well, intelligently, it can prolong life and health! Pilates is not only a body of light, and not only to bring you in touch with your cells, but it will repair them. It will streamline your hips, buttocks and legs—give greater energy—eliminate waste and toxins from the body—and finally ignite a passion that will bring you into touch with your emotions to enhance YOUR life!

PRECISION--gives awareness that sustains each movement. FLOW--using deep understanding of Pilates movement to execute and not just doing careless imitations...it is not a robotic application but using these 6 principles will give you physical and mental acuity...
STRESS IS THE # 1 HEALTH POISON
The body, mind and spirit comes with a coat of many colors of the rainbow… And whatever our struggles on earth or sufferings in the present world are, they can’t truly touch the larger, eternal beings we in truth are. Laughter and irony are at heart reminders that we are not prisoners in this world, but voyagers through it. However, while were here, we can do something simple to extend our lives. DNA is not set for life! Researchers believe we can change and improve our DNA. Though they don’t fully understand the mechanics of it, they know that tiny pieces of DNA called telomeres protect us by helping to keep chromosomes intact. But stress causes them to shorten, and the shorter they become, the quicker cells age—more susceptible to everything from cancer to heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, osteoporosis and early mortality…While nutrition gives health to the body, Pilates adds extra amounts of the enzyme telomerase to rebuild and lengthen telomeres to be used in the years ahead. So, lets jump start the fall! Lace up your sneakers, grab a windbreaker and take an hour of your day to let go of everything except the present moment.
